Medical Advocacy

OASIS’s Community Healthcare Advocate coordinates and oversees our Medical Advocacy Program, providing comprehensive medical advocacy and healthcare systems support to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Program services include:
  • Providing crisis response, advocacy, and emotional support to survivors
  • Supporting the SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) program at Watauga Medical Center by coordinating forensic exams, follow-up care, and
  • Crime Victims’ Compensation assistance
  • Serving as a liaison with local hospitals, clinics, and healthcare systems
  • Providing advocacy and support throughout all stages of the medical process
  • Supporting compliance with the Survivor’s Act, Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI), and Rape Victims’ Compensation programs
  • Co-facilitating SART/DART (Sexual Assault Response Team / Domestic Abuse Response Team) community meetings in partnership with the Family Justice Advocate
