Internship Purpose: The agency’s goal for interns is to have a meaningful experience working with survivors of sexual and domestic violence and learning about the dynamics of a small non-profit agency. After a period of orientation and observation, interns will have the opportunity to work directly with clients and children. The Director of Client Services provides on-going supervision, guidance, and professional development. Interns may be able to support clients in judicial systems advocacy, medical advocacy, case management, crisis counseling, support group facilitation, community outreach and education events, and other administrative responsibilities.
Who Should Apply: Both undergraduate and graduate level students are welcome to apply. This internship is likely to be of particular interest to students pursuing degrees in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Public Relations, Communications, and Anthropology.
Internship hours will vary based on the total required hours for student internships. Work will generally occur between the hours of 8:00 am- 5:00 pm; however, there are after-hour and weekend opportunities. Interns will be required to work in both of our service area counties, Avery and Watauga.
We accept internship applications on a rolling basis and review them in the order they are received. Our general application timelines are as follows: Spring internships (August–November), Summer internships (October–March), and Fall internships (January–June). Please note that positions may fill before the application window closes.
Due to the high volume of applications we receive, we kindly ask for your patience during the review process. Our team carefully considers each application, and response times may vary. We appreciate your understanding and will be in touch as soon as we are able.
